WHAT IS THE FORMAT OF THE FACILITATOR CERTIFICATION PROGRAM?
The certification program is designed to be flexible. You may participate in any of the five-and-a-half-day modules, which are sometimes offered in pairs so you can take one or both. Modules are offered year-round, and on five continents, so that most people can attend within their own region or can opt to travel further if they desire. You may attend as many or as few modules as you wish, and, in keeping with the HB tenet that your inner wisdom is the best guide, following your own trajectory.
For those who wish to become certified, there are two tracks, Educational and Practitioner. Both have the requirements of attendance at seven modules and a two-week closing intensive. In addition, the training includes ten hours of consultation with a certified practitioner and participating in ten HB workshops (including those done before starting the training) where you breathe and “sit.” In addition, those wishing to become independent workshop leaders (Practitioners), must apprentice at least four times at workshops with previously certified practitioners before leading groups of their own. Practitioner certification is not guaranteed, but is at the discretion of the GTT core facilitator team.
Those following the practitioner track have opportunities to practice as “floaters” at modules and as apprentices at workshops and modules. “Floating” is a colloquial term for when facilitators or facilitators-in-training move about the room during a Holotropic Breathwork session.
HOW DOES SOMEONE BEGIN THE TRAINING?
You can attend modules without any previous experience with Holotropic Breathwork, and without first applying to the training. For most events, just contact us for registration information. At the point you decide to pursue certification as a practitioner of Holotropic Breathwork, please read the training information packet, and complete and return the training application packet. All modules you attend will be retroactively counted toward your certification requirements. After attending the first time, you will be sent notices for upcoming training events.
We suggest that you apply to the training program at some point after attending your first module and before attending your fourth one.
Please note that you must complete the training program, meeting all the requirements to become a Certified Holotropic Breathwork facilitator, before offering or running any Holotropic Breathwork events.
In order to remain on the active certified facilitator list, you are required to demonstrate a continuing commitment to keeping current in the holotropic field. This includes attending a module at least once every three years (our strong recommendation is that all practitioners attend The Power Within module if possible). Other continuing education requirements include experiencing Holotropic Breathwork as a breather at least twice a year. Certified persons may attend modules for a reduced fee.
